New union’s dining options announced

Last week, amid plenty of buzz and speculation around campus, UNT announced the dining options that will be available in the new union.
The new union will have a 500-chair seating area, and a diverse dining menu, including Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Jamba Juice, Which Wich, Boar’s Head Deli, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Burger King and Taco Bueno.
UNT’s director of retail dining Kim Schroedor said UNT’s dining services staff met with the students involved in planning the union, the Residence Life Association, and the UNT food committee to choose dining options that would accommodate our growing campus.
“I’m excited that there will be new food options. They’re not just rebuilding the old ones,” elementary education junior Kaya Savannah said. “It’s a lot more than we had in the old union.”
The union will also include quicker options as well. UNT dining services will operate a to-go quick service market, an Italian food station, an Asian noodle bowl station, a salad bar, and premade items to grab and go.
“I’m looking forward to the Starbucks because I love their coffee, and the Asian and Italian food places because they sound good,” said computer science junior Alejandro Rodriguez.
The new union will also house Avesta, a full service restaurant with a club/lounge-like design, where students and staff can sit down and enjoy a more upscale meal.
“We have received so many positive responses, everyone seems very excited about the new union food options,” said Schroedor.
