It was a long day for the Mean Green swimming team on Saturday, as the No. 2 Texas A&M University swim team beat the Mean Green 153-97 in College Station.
The Aggies placed first in 12 of the 14 events, not allowing UNT a top finish until the 13th event of the meet. The Mean Green took all three top finishes in the 13th and 14th event.
A highlight of the day came from junior backstroke swimmer Mona Groteguth, who had a season-best performance and contributed to the team’s first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. She also finished second in the 200-yard backstroke event.
There were no diving events scheduled on Saturday for either team.
The Mean Green will now host Texas Christian University Wednesday and hold a tribute to the seniors in its last dual meet of the season. The diving events will begin at 4:15 p.m. in the Physical Education building. The swimming events will begin at 6 p.m. in the Pohl Recreation Center pool.
