On-campus office offers dental care

A dental office opened on campus today in Chestnut Hall room 154 to provide a cheaper dental care to students, faculty and staff.
The office was started through a partnership between the Student Health and Wellness Center and the company Onsite Dental Solutions.
The dental office offers discounted plans for students without insurance to help them make payments for proper care.
“When you compare quality, convenience and price, it’s pretty much the best deal you can find,” Onsite Dental Solutions CEO and founder Charles Lusk said.
Matthew Mancuso, the sole dentist at the office, said students on the plan pay a yearly fee of about $125 that gives them discounts between 30 and 50 percent off all dental services.
For example, the average check-up would cost around $42 without the discount, and around $22 dollars with the discount.
“The prices would be lower than if you had dental insurance and it covers all procedures,” Onsite Dental Solutions administrative advisor Oliver Hawkins said.
The office offers different dental services including check-ups, cavities, crowns, root canals and Invisalign.
Currently, there is only one dentist and two dental assistants, but there are plans to bring in a dental hygienist to do the teeth cleanings, Mancuso said.
“Everything in that office is 100 percent state of the art,” Lusk said. “The dental team has a combined experience spanning 40 to 50 plus years.”
The office also accepts dental insurance, but proceedures are not covered through UNT’s health insurance plan.
UNT has been planning to build this office for a few years now, but had just partnered with Onsite Dental Solutions for the last six months to create the office, Hawkins said.
