Record Store Day spins through Square

Last Saturday morning, vinyl enthusiasts gathered outside of Mad World Records on the Square for the arrival of Record Store Day, a yearly celebration aimed at recognizing local record shops.
When the shop opened, the line filtered in and customers filed through exclusive records, discussed their personal collections and rocked out to tunes played by in-house DJs.
Some of the featured records were a new song by hip-hop duo Run the Jewels and a remix of the song “Step” by Vampire Weekend.

After stopping by Mad World, many Dentonites strolled over to Recycled Books, where they took part in a 20 percent off sale on everything in the store, including records.
The Record Store Day celebrations illustrated Denton’s strong passion for local businesses.
After patiently sifting through bins of exclusive albums, Record Store Day attendants inch closer to the cash register. Some exclusive releases included Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and Ah-ha
Interdisciplinary arts and design studies junior Courtney Frazier looks at the track listing of the Dirty Heads’ “Sounds of Change.” Last weekend was Fraziers first trip to Mad World for the nostalgic holiday.
