After kicking off conference play with a 4-0 start and not allowing any goals to conference opponents, the North Texas soccer team (9-4, 4-1 Conference USA) fell to Alabama-Birmingham (4-4-4, 2-2-1 Conference USA) 1-0.

The Mean Green fired off 13 shot attempts, six of which were on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Brann allowed a goal for the first time in five games in conference play. Before giving up a goal to the Blazers, she defended 34 shot attempts through five games with 12 of them being on goal. Alabama-Birmingham scored their lone goal within the first two minutes of the game, ending the game with five total shot attempts, two on target.

North Texas came into this matchup outscoring its opponents 6-0. This game marked the first time the Mean Green have been shut out since Sept. 3 after their 1-0 loss to No. 14 Memphis, who ranked No. 18 at that time.

This game will conclude the Mean Green’s two-game road stretch, as they’ll be returning to Denton for a two-game homestead against Western Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 18 and Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 20. North Texas currently holds a 25-game home unbeaten streak and have not lost a home conference game since 2008.

UP NEXT: North Texas (9-4, 4-1 C-USA) returns to their home stadium to host Western Kentucky (8-4-1, 4-2 C-USA) on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. CT.
