A week after being swept by the perennial Sun Belt Conference regular season champion University of Louisiana-Lafayette, the Mean Green will head to Mobile, Ala., to take on the No. 23 University of South Alabama Jaguars.

On Wednesday the Mean Green was scheduled to take on the No. 1 University of Oklahoma, but due to weather the game was rescheduled to take place on April 23 at 4 p.m. at Lovelace Stadium

“We really need to get back to the way we were playing before this previous weekend,” head coach T.J. Hubbard said. “Looking back now, not having to travel to Norman, it gives us one more day of rest and one more day of practice to get refocused”

Boasting an 11-3 conference record and currently on a six game win streak, South Alabama is on the top of the conference.

Coming off the ULL sweep, the Mean Green is looking for redemption to get back the winning ways of earlier in the season.

“Of course, we are feeling a little low because of the losses last weekend,” freshman outfielder Madison Tierney said. “But I think that when it comes to this weekend’s games, we will have the confidence that we need to play like we normally play,”

The Mean Green pitching staff will have another tough challenge ahead of it as the Jaguars boast a lineup consisting of four of the top ten batters in the conference.

USA also brings two of the best pitchers in the conference in junior Hannah Campbell and sophomore Farish Beard. Both hold opposing batters to a .200 batting average or lower and Campbell has the lowest earned run average in the SBC at 0.98 in 149.2 innings of work.

“We need to show that we can make adjustments during the game if we are struggling,” sophomore infielder Jordan Terry said. “Then just keep our sprits high and confidence up and we can come out with a win here this weekend.”

The three game series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and the final game of the series on Sunday at 11 a.m.
