Suspect who crashed vehicle into Fry Street bar after chase with police identified
UPDATE: Friday, July 28. 1 p.m.
The suspect involved in the pursuit has been identified as Bradford James Loomis, according to a statement released by the Lake Dallas Police Department.
Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, police attempted to stop Loomis in Lake Dallas. Loomis did not stop and a pursuit ensued down Interstate 35 into Denton, according to the statement. After crashing into Riprocks, a Denton bar off Fry Street and Hickory Street, Loomis got out of his car and ran onto the UNT campus.
Police found him hiding in a building on campus and after arresting him, Loomis was transported to the Denton County Jail, according to the statement. He is being held on two counts of evading arrest and one count of driving with a suspended license.
There were no injuries reported during the pursuit.
Thursday, July 27. 10:45 p.m.
A suspect crashed his vehicle into Riprocks after leading both Denton and Lake Dallas police on a chase Thursday night.
The suspect reportedly attempted to exit his vehicle while it was in motion, after which it collided with the outdoor patio gate of Riprocks. Bryan Cose, public information officer for the Denton Police Department, said the chase began in Lake Dallas.
“They initiated pursuit,” Cose said. “[It] ended in the Fry Street area.”
The suspect then got out of his car after the crash and fled the scene, Cose said. He hid in the UNT Student Union, according to eyewitness accounts.
“He came up the street driving in the wrong direction,” said Kaylee Cox, a bartender at Caskey’s Bar & Grill. “There were three cop cars chasing him.”

Mike Muncy, a management marketing student at Texas Tech University, witnessed the crash.
“We were literally playing cornhole out here, and he just rolled around,” Muncy said. “I think the brakes went out … he was trying to get out at the same time that his car was going up to the curb. He crashed into [Rip Rocks], got out and dipped, and ran around the alley. The cops got out and chased him.”
Muncy added the suspect “looked like he was on some drugs,” and that “you could see it in his face.”
Francesco Avossa, a UNT fine arts senior bartending at Riprocks, also witnessed the crash.
“I haven’t seen anything that crazy in a while,” Avossa said. “The car hit our gate and he bolted this way in our backlot with the cops chasing him.”
