Runoff election results to determine the undergraduate president and vice president have been suspended because of possible campaign violations, according to a tweet from Student Government Association.
SGA’s election board said hearings of questionable campaigning by candidates will delay results, a statement said. SGA’s Twitter account posted the election board’s statement Friday.
SGA chief of staff Grant Hale and College of Arts and Sciences senator Sam DeLeon were locked in a runoff. Voting closed Thursday. SGA did not say which candidate the allegations apply to.
In a separate statement to all candidates, the board said “voting shall not be discouraged by candidates or their campaign teams.”
This issue was recently brought to the board, causing the hearings. SGA did not say who raised election code questions.
When asked Thursday, Election board commissioner Aaron Davis said results would come out Friday, but now the timeline is uncertain. Information about the hearings will be released in the final election report, Davis said.
