In its final home meet of the season, the Mean Green swim and dive team fell to Southern Methodist University 131-112 on Saturday. It was the team’s senior night.
The Mean Green was on pace to win for a lot of the meet, and won four out of the first seven events. That was highlighted by a pair of freshmen, Isabelle Morris and Sydney Buckley, each finishing in first place in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly respectively.
However, SMU was able to storm back and take a lead from North Texas that the Mustangs wouldn’t relinquish, sending the Mean Green to a loss.
The Mean Green will compete in a time trial event with SMU and Oklahoma Baptist University on Feb. 7 before competing in the Conference USA championships from Feb. 18-21.
