Swimming & Diving team grabs second place at North Texas Relays

The University of North Texas swimming and diving team finished second overall at the North Texas Relays event, taking first place in two individual events.
The Mean Green collected 358 overall points, putting them behind Southern Methodist University who took first with 404 overall points. The University of Houston (314) and the University of Arkansas Little Rock (164) rounded out the standings.
The Mean Green took home first place in the women’s 300 yard backstroke and 300 yard breastroke relay races. The backstroke team posted a time of 2:52.82 led by senior Bianca Bosca who posted the two shortest individual times on the team. The team finished over four seconds ahead of second place Houston.
North Texas posted a final time of 3:18.97 in the breaststroke, just over a full second ahead of second place SMU. The team was made up of two freshman, Kathleen Rousset and Meaghan Rousset, and one sophomore Claudia Kitching. Meaghan Rousset posted the shortest time of the three.
“We improved again, we took another really good step forward from the last meet,” said head coach Brendon Bray. “We hope to do that again next time.”
North Texas swimming and diving return to action when they face off against Incarnate Word and Liberty in Denton.
“I think it’s really a great thing to be able to have success early,” said Bray. “I couldn’t be happier with where we are right now. To be that close with SMU, which is a top program in the country, is a great reflection of where we are.”
