SXSW 2023, Gallery: Days 7-9 feature red carpet debut, creatives fair and music performances

AUSTIN, Texas — The Daily staff spent their final days at South by Southwest 2023 at pop-up and craft fair events, Rolling Stone’s Future of Music event and the “Joy Ride” red carpet.
On day seven, Daily staffers explored Apple TV+’s “Tetris” pop-up event at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse. Inside, visitors got to play a series of “Tetris” games with a live leaderboard, take photos with 8-bit figures and purchase some of the film-inspired merchandise with their complementary game token.
The group then stopped by the La Croix Lounge on 6th St. Attendees were offered a variety of free La Croix merchandise, like stickers and koozies, as well as complimentary mocktails. The lounge consisted of an indoor, “bubble”-filled space and an outdoor yard full of coolers of La Croix.
The following day, the Daily attended the Renegade Craft, the “world’s leading independent craft and design fair,” according to its SXSW event description. A second floor room at the Austin Mariott was filled with over 100 art and craft vendors,. The booths’ products ranged from handmade jewelry and candles to digital designs and thrifted clothing.
Later that evening, Remi Wolf played a 15-minute set at the Moody Theater. The bedroom pop artist was a part of the Austin City Limits live line up and performed songs like “Sexy Villian” and “Liz.”
R&B group Thee Sacred Souls performed the following day at the Austin Convention Center. Tracks like “Love Is The Way”and “Running Away” were sung by lead singer Josh Lane throughout the band’s 40-minute set.
The Daily‘s last night was capped off by the “Joy Ride” world premiere. Staffers were able to attend the pre-screening red carpet, where they interviewed several cast and crew members, including director Adele Lim and Oscar-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu.
