Tormentero is more a beautifully aligned cinematographic piece of art than a movie. Movies usually have plots.
But the story is of a disgraced fisherman who discovered Mexico’s largest oil reserve and got absolutely nothing for it. But it’s not something that you understand fully until about halfway through the movie, when Romero Kantún, or Don Rome, () is invited to meet the owner of an oil rig in the bay of Isla del Carmen.
