Chestnut Tea House and Bistro creates a quaint and inviting atmosphere for guests looking to brunch.

It has everything an ideal teahouse should have, from a vast array of hot or cold teas to homemade, fresh desserts. This bistro is a must for any hungry patron looking to chow down between 9am and 3pm, Monday through Saturday.

One of the top brunch-menu sellers is the Dentonite, a breakfast sandwich made on savory sourdough French toast, with mushrooms, ham, Roma tomatoes, Swiss cheese, a poached egg, balsamic vinegar and Hollandaise sauce.

Head chef Suzanne Johnson, who has become a part of the Chestnut family in the two-and-a-half years that she’s managed the restaurant, created the Chestnut-staple.

Johnson explained how the restaurant has changed in appearance, as well as menu alterations over the years, going from an eight-table space in the back of an antique shop, to a full restaurant that’s not even a year old.

“We have made sure to keep certain aspects the same to cater to our guests that have been coming here for all 19 years,” Johnson said. “They have been with us since the beginning, so we know they like us for what we’ve always done.”

Part of what they do is simply give friendly service, even during busy brunch hours. In the 19 years of service, the teahouse has gained many regular guests, such as Astrid St. John, Sue Spencer, and Ulrika Houston, who have been coming to eat brunch at the tearoom every Wednesday for the past 16 years.

“We have tried other places, but nothing is as nice and cozy as this is,“ St. John said.

The three women have made it their tradition to come here every Wednesday to get their various flavored coffees and favorite soups and sandwiches.

“Rain or shine, we’ll be here,” Houston said.
