“The Good Place” is back, and it’s the highlight of my week.

Besides the audio not being in sync with the actors (I blame Xfinity), I thoroughly enjoyed the premiere, and I’m excited to continue to see where this series is headed.

I wondered how the show would pace itself since the season is taking a whole new direction, but once again the show has taken an unexpected turn: another person to deal with. The characters are no longer just adjusting to having a near-death experience but are also together again and adjusting to a new member, Trevor (played by Adam Scott).

Ted Danson’s character Michael led his former boss Shawn (played by Marc Jackson) finding a way to hinder an experiment. Now we see Trevor’s return, and now it’s Shawn’s turn to meddle.

I think this will lead to a confrontation between Shawn and Michael and could obviously put the experiment on the line. The judge will remain oblivious because the scenario most likely to play out is good vs. evil.

This show is known to do twists all the time, so the judge could play a bigger role than I anticipate. This could lead to us seeing a whole new aspect of the systems in place to choose who goes where. The only thing I hope to see from the judge is maybe a change of show to binge watch.

Something I’m looking forward to see more of are Janet (played by D’Arcy Carden) and Michael’s interactions. How sweet is it that Janet is “experimenting” on titles? She calls him “dad,” which shows she feels and is more than a robot. She’s also the only one left since the humans went back to earth.

I don’t think we’ll see the same dynamics play with the characters. The returning character is going to change their dynamics and influence Eleanor into being more mischievous. It depends how long Adam Scott’s character keeps the act up of being similar to them.

All the character development we’ve seen in the past two seasons is gone. I’m just hoping Tahini keeps on her improvement path because, at this point, I have the most faith in her. Eleanor reversed back to her old habits, Jason seems just as lost as always but I’m hopeful he goes through some growth and Chidi goes still struggles with decision-making.

This is season is going to be roller coaster. I’m expecting twists, turns and drama. With Trevor back I expect it to get messy. He’s probably going to mess with all of them, especially their heads. At this point I think Michael will be the only one to help them unless they develop a friendship, which will help them watch their own backs. It’s like Michael said, they are stronger together because they can grow together.

To catch new episodes of “The Good Place,” tune in to NBC on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
