What’s better than a sunny Thursday, good friends and fried food? Let me answer that for you: nothing.

Locals flocked to Eastside Denton and Oak St. Drafthouse & Cocktail Parlor to up their calorie intake with some good ol’ truck food, and then wash it down with a cold one.

It’s the Texas way. The Food Truck Fest took place Thursday afternoon and continued until the last truck ran out of food.

Fourteen food trucks joined the line up at the curb, including fan favorites like The Pickled Carrot, The Waffle Wagon, Top Nosh Truck, Down to Earth Vegetarian Food and Say Kimchi. 14_foodtruck_web6

The Waffle Wagon got a lot of attention by serving chicken and waffles, but was popular for their dessert waffles.

More than 2,900 patrons couldn’t resist the smell in the air or the good company as they came out to enjoy a pre-weekend break.

The event provided other forms of entertainment like patio games and live print designs provided by Pan Ector Industries.

The fest was open to everybody from kids to adults, and like all Denton events, pet-friendly.

Chris Whetzel, right, and Rebecca McFarland were excited to dig into their specialty burgers while soaking in the laid back atmosphere of Eastside Denton. The Food Truck Festival lasted from at 2 p.m. to midnight, allowing plenty of hungry people to make it out and get a taste of some food truck cuisine.

Say Kimchi, famous for its Spam Cup Bob with Kar-BQ Sauce attended the festival.
