Road struggles continue for the Mean Green volleyball team over the weekend, as the team was beat in straight sets by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Texas at San Antonio. UNT (12-12) dropped to 4-4 in Conference USA matches.
UAB (15-9, 4-4)
On Friday, the Mean Green fell to UAB (22-25, 25-27, 20-25) in the second meeting ever between the two programs. Sophomore outside hitter Carnae Dillard led the Mean Green, who had 13 kills and 10 digs in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Analisse Shannon added eight kills and nine digs. With 23 attack errors, the team managed an attack percentage of just .136 for the day.
UTSA (15-7, 7-1)
The Mean Green suffered a similar fate as it was swept by UTSA (23-25, 19-25, 12-25). After struggling with an ankle injury suffered in practice earlier this year, Courtney Windham had a team-high nine kills, but also seven attack errors. Dillard had eight kills and 17 digs and junior setter Camille Cherry came off the bench to add 20 assists. The team attack percentage fell to .062 for the game.
The Mean Green has an off-day on Friday before the team travels to Houston to play Rice University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
