After getting its first win of the season last weekend, the Mean Green women’s basketball team lost its seventh game of the season to the University of San Francisco 60-42 Wednesday night on the road.
It was a very rough offensive start for the Mean Green, as it took a little more than eight minutes for the team to score its first basket of the game. The team trailed 28-15 at halftime, and shot 17.9 percent from the field in the first half.
North Texas went on a 5-0 run to start the second half to cut the San Francisco lead to 28-20 out of halftime. But San Francisco shot 44 percent from the field in the second half and knocked down 10 of its 12 free throws to eventually extend the lead and down the Mean Green.
Junior guard Teadra Jones lead the Mean Green in scoring with 12 points, while senior forward Joh’Vonna Darrington and senior guard BreAnna Dawkins each added nine points.
The team will return home to play the University of Texas at Arlington on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
